Anne’s involvement in the sector began over 30 years ago as a parent. She has a background of working with families and for over 25 years, worked for the family based support organisation, Parent to Parent New Zealand.

SAMS' Board – Chairperson
Gary is Ngati Porou and a disabled person. He’s been directly involved in the disability sector his whole life and for at least the last 35 years, he’s been active in the governance and management of various sector-related NGOs and companies both in New Zealand and internationally.

Angus Capie
Board Member
Angus Capie has worked in the disability sector for over forty years. After studying at Victoria University and the University of Auckland he went to England to continue his studies. There he ended up running a large psychological service working with people with learning disabilities and their families.

Belinda O'Brien
Board Member
Belinda O'Brien was appointed a Board member in February 2013. Belinda is a Chartered Accountant and has 15 years auditing experience for global professional services firms. She brings with her a wealth of financial accounting/reporting experience to assist the SAMS Board to meets its financial reporting obligations.

SAMS' Board - Deputy Chairperson
Rainus has represented People First, an advocacy organisation run by and for people with a learning/intellectual disability, on the Disability Services Consumer Consortium. He is a member of the Ministry of Health Māori Disability Leadership Group.

Mike Gourley
Board Member
Mike's shortened arms have never seemed to have shortened his reach in life. A highpoint was accompanying the Governor General to the United Nations to accept an international award on behalf of New Zealand.

Stewart has been involved in the disability sector for many years, and currently works part time for People First in Christchurch, and is a representative of People First on the Disabled Person's Assembly Christchurch Committee. He represents People First on the Office for Disability Issues Reference Group.
