Christine began working for SAMS in 1996 as the Advisor for the South part of the North Island. In that time Christine led teams, conducted research and provided training in a number of areas.
Christine then took a six year break to begin a family between 1999 and 2006, but found returning to SAMS was an easy decision. Christine’s role has increasingly involved innovative research projects on behalf of Government departments and independent not-for-profit organisations. Christine has a passion for assisting people to get the best possible from their life and Christine believes most support organisations want to do the same. Christine firmly believes developing positive and reliable relationships with people is the first step in providing truly individualised and successful outcomes.
Christine completed a Ph.D in community based support for people with intellectual disabilities through Monash University, and has previous majors in education and psychology. Christine believes her most important qualification, however, is her experience of mental illness in her own life. Christine consciously chose not to take an academic career path as she believes she can be more effective working directly with individuals, families and services.
